Hi, I’m so glad you’re here!
The stories of Mia and Max were written for children. And for their families, too.
Mia is a curious little girl, and Max is her loyal Shiba Inu. Through their eyes, you’ll explore what it means to grow up with empathy. To see the world not just as it is, but as it could be — softer, kinder, more curious, and a little braver.
Mia and Max explore a world that isn’t perfect. Along the way, they meet new friends — other dogs of different breeds — and learn what true connection looks like.
Their adventures are full of questions, quiet courage, and small moments that leave a lasting mark, just like life.
This book is a reminder that the right story, at the right time, can shape a heart.
And maybe, somewhere between the laughter and the lessons, you’ll feel something too.
Something real.
Something that stays.
Yours Truly,
Alena Thind
Alena lives in London with her beloved Shiba Inu and divides her time between writing, travelling, interviewing remarkable dog owners, and crafting children’s stories that bring warmth and emotional depth into family life.
With two master’s degrees — in Child Psychology and Human–Animal Interaction — Alena has long been fascinated by how children connect with animals, and how those relationships shape emotional development, empathy, and identity. Her academic work has focused on the role of dogs as companions, teachers, and reflections of a child’s inner world.
Her debut book series is a natural extension of her work and her deep belief in the healing power of story. It’s a world where children are heard and can hear, where they are supported and learn to support, where they are loved and gently shown how to love in return.

Leo’s story is inspired by his real-life owner, Charles Leclerc — Formula 1 driver for Ferrari and a native of Monaco. For years, Charles was called "cursed" because victory always slipped away. But in 2024, after many near-misses, he finally won the Monaco Grand Prix. Leo’s journey mirrors that spirit of quiet determination and proves that even the hardest dreams can come true.

Red was adopted from the RSPCA. His story was written in honour of his owner — a true friend who stood by Alena and Max during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
In the book, Red and Max come from different worlds, but their friendship is steady and true. It’s a reminder that real connection has nothing to do with where you come from, and everything to do with how you show up.

Roscoe’s owner Lewis Hamilton — seven-time Formula 1 World Champion and founder of Mission 44. As the only Black driver in the sport, Lewis faced enormous pressure, but never stopped believing in himself. He is one of the most successful drivers in history and now helps young people discover their own potential. Roscoe shows how discovering your talent can lead you to success.

Teddy is a little Pomeranian with a secret: he knows where true happiness hides. Not in something big or far away — but right here, in the sparkle of a snowflake, the softness of fresh snow, the joy of catching it on your tongue. Teddy brings joy wherever he goes and reminds everyone around him that happiness can be found in the simplest moments.

A greyhound named Sapphire was adopted by J.K. Rowling, the famous author of Harry Potter. Though the book is now loved around the world, Rowling spent years writing it while living in a small flat as a single mother. The story about Sapphire mirrors her journey: greyhounds may be known for their speed, but they’re just as skilled at slowing down, resting, and moving forward at their own pace.

Rocky was a young husky with a wild heart and joyful spirit — like so many huskies. His family fell in love with Max, and that love led them to Rocky. Alena helped guide his early days as they raised him into a happy dog. But Rocky became ill and passed away young. His story is about love and the strength it takes to let go. Because some dogs don’t stay long, but they stay with us forever.
